Soccer Goalie Passes Out

If you happen to be looking for exhibit A of bad sportsmanship in soccer, you just need to check out this clip from a Peruvian soccer match between Cesar Vallejo and Union Comercio from last weekend.

With Union down by the score of 2-1, Union goalie Juan Flores made an initial save against a shot by a Cesar Vallejo player at the 34th minute but ultimately lost possession of the ball as he passed out on the ground.

While Flores was down for the count, a Union defender attempted to clear the ball but Vallejo striker Piero Alva took advantage of the play by using his feet to deflect the ball into the empty goal:

The game ended with a 3-1 Vallejo victory and Flores had some harsh words for Alva’s unsportsmanlike play:

“I thought about hitting him and retiring from football”, said Flores.

WTF how is this unsportsmanlike? It’s not like in baseball runner stops when defender face plants himself.

No, unsportsmanlike conduct is kicking someone straight in the sac.
Players fall down all the time in all sports, should they also be called unsportsmanlike for continuing until the whistle?

He was most likely pretending to be passed out. Just like when the players fall to the ground writhing in pain holding their leg and you see the replay and they weren’t even touched. Then after the card is played they jump up and run around like nothing happened. That kind of stuff is why Americans hate soccer. That’s what is unsportsmanlike. Basketball is beginning to suffer from the same thing, but now they are starting to call fouls on players who flop.

I’m thinking the guy that first shot for goal may have ran past the goalie too fast and a stiff breeze hit him(goalie) too hard and knocked him out. I HATE FUTBALL! Everyone can keep there FLOP sport.
