It was at the Rosemont Horizon arena just outside Chicago, and Holyfield was there only to do a news conference hyping his upcoming fight against Alex “The Destroyer” Stewart. No entourage. Literally, walking around the arena by himself. I approached him, introduced myself, asked if I could interview him. He started looking around, and I figured he was looking for an excuse out. Instead he points and says, “let’s go over there, looks quiet, we can talk better over there”. Couldn’t be more gracious. Invited me to sit with him for the next couple fights on the card, then gave me a front row seat for his news conference with Stewart. I was like a kid in a candy store. Been a fan of his ever since.
