Let’s watch a high school girls hoops player make a three-quarters-court shot … on the bounce (video)

Yep, Lewis Palmer High’s (Monument, CO) Anna Olson drained a shot from about the opposite free throw line, with the ball bouncing into the hoop. It was near the end of the first quarter, and the scoring table was so stunned by this that they stopped the clock … and the refs didn’t know how to score it either. Eventually they agreed: 3-pointer.

H/T David Weightman.

If they scored that a 3 pointer they blew it.

…..and she should not be credited with the two points. Her teammate who is closest to the ball when it hit the floor should be. By rule, that’s a loose ball…..not a shot attempt.

What seems odd is that the other team inbounded the ball immediately afterwards.
Generally, a long 3/4 court heave like that is used only when time is expiring.
That wasn’t the case if the other team simply took possession of the ball after the basket.
