This is the result of the University of Iowa providing an outlet for about every imaginable activity, except the shooting sports. If you live in the dorms and want to hunt, you have to take a bus 3 miles off campus to get your car (if you have one). Then you have to go to the Campus police station to get your gun, which often takes hours because the campus police are intentionally slow. There is no place to park while retrieving your guns from the campus police. You have no place to clean your gun when you are done. By the time you do all this and return everything, you have spent all day and did not have any time to actually hunt or shoot.

As long as the University of Iowa makes it as difficult as possible for students to participate in this locally important cultural activity, then unhappy students will continue to find inappropriate outlets. I think it is partially the University of Iowa’s fault for setting students up in this (and other) cases. The occurrence of campus shootings has resulted in rules and punishments that are so severe that they infringe upon the ability to participate in shooting sports and inappropriately punish unrelated violations.

Making hats? Apparently these wrestlers are talented and can do more than one thing better than most others. There are few people today who know how to make hats out of rabbit pelts. Maybe they can take up hunting for wild hogs. Or they can come to Louisiana and be paid to provide nutria tails, a bounty for each tail. Or join the Swamp People and catch some alligators. They can make alligator boots, purses, and such from that skin.
