What do you know anyway? The player who went down wasn’t awarded a free kick. The ump then (correctly) blew the whistle to stop the game with FCN CLEARLY in possession of the ball. Do you really think that it’s fair for Shakhtar to gain possession off of the drop-ball, when they didn’t have the ball, when play was stopped? Get a clue.

I’m with albertmn on this one – I have no sympathy for the guy who flopped. This is exactly why it’s hard to give a crap about international soccer, and I actually liked the sport for the most part.

Besides, if it was really such a horrible transgression on the shooter’s part, that goalie should’ve come up and taken him out at the 18-yd line.

1 – It was a flop anyway. The player hit the side of his face on the other guy’s shoulder, but then flailed his arms like he was shot. They deserve to give up a goal for that reason alone.

2 – You play to win the game! Score any goal you can in a game that has so few.

3 – Unwritten rules aren’t rules, so they do not need to be adhered to.

4 – It’s soccer. 99.7% of American won’t care, and the rest of the world will be up in arms over it and probably have a riot or two. The rest of the world takes futbol way too seriously.
