Ferocious volleyball spike takes out player and spectator, is probably still wreaking havoc somewhere (video)

So now let’s visit Fort Madison, Iowa, where Holy Trinity Catholic High is playing host to Winfield-Mount Union High in girls volleyball, with the winner earning a trip to the state tournament. Winfield-Mount Union serves, and Holy Trinity sets up a return …

That’s a pretty good spike. So good, in fact, that it takes out a Winfield-Mount Union player when it strikes her in the face. But that’s not all: the ball then ricochets off the girl’s head and shoots toward the crowd, taking out a spectator who had been jogging toward an exit. Boom! Boom!

Scary part: the player who was hit remains on the floor as coaches run to check on her. Funny part: Kid who was decked by the ball gets up and races out of the gym. “My glasses! Where are my glasses? I am powerless without them!”

Trinity went on to prevail in the Class 1A tournament match, 25-11, 25-16, 25-15.

The deadly killer ball was captured and shipped to the University of Southern California, where it was questioned and partially deflated by Lane Kiffin’s staff.

Nice 6pack. Volleyball is so underrated.
