Let this be a lesson to all high school football players out there: if you’re going to make a stunt video to impress college scouts, please do a stunt that won’t get yourself horribly injured.

19-year-old Bladimir Barreto wanted to show off his impressive leaping ability for college football coaches and figured that the best way of doing so was to leap over a car.

As Barreto approached the vehicle, it appeared that everything was still going according to plan until his leap comes up short and the car sends him airborne:

Barreto received nearly 89 stitches in his right leg and is currently in a coma. We here at Off The Bench wish him a speedy recovery…

If you’re going to jump a car do it like Griffin: Sideways and while said car is stationary. Although I can’t see any reason to include a car in your demonstration since you won’t be going up against one on the field of play. Why isn’t a simple measured vertical leap good enough? Don’t these yahoos understand that anyone evaluating player ability will give you a low mark for poor judgment? Just hoping this poor SOB recovers and learns from this.

Better than drinking a gallon of bleach to show that he has intestinal fortitude.

What makes you think they won’t still take him? He was facing the right direction after all….

    I would never try it!
