Here’s what a high-speed race car crash looks like from inside the car (video)

It was a test run for the 15th annual Petit Le Mans in Road Atlanta, where Gunnar Jeannette was testing the Nissan DeltaWing, aka The Batmobile, when the Joker launched a missile and sent the car tumbling into a crash. Or, actually, Jeannette was clipped the rear wheel by a GTC class Porsche that he was passing, with the impact sending him bouncing into a curb.

“Not the best of practice sessions, unfortunately.” said Jeanette, “Everything was going well… I followed a GTC car through [turns] 10a and 10b and I had a run on him exiting the corner before the bridge and pulled almost completely past.”

“He cut over to take the apex and made heavy contact with the left-rear of our car that sent me for a bit of a ride. Luckily, the guys built a very strong car.”

That DeltaWing got knocked out of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, too, due to another driver’s error. Don’t those lower-class car drivers know how to use their mirrors or pay attention to the corner worker waving the blue flag telling you a faster car is passing you?

Goes to show how light those cars are too when one race car manages to flip another.
