Pittsburgh Civic Arena Demolition AP

It’s the 4th of July, and what’s more American than demolishing things? The Civic Arena in downtown Pittsburgh (the Igloo to you Penguins fans) was the first-ever retractable-roof stadium, although the roof has been permanently closed since 1994. Anyway, it came down recently, to be replaced by shops and retail stores. Let’s get to the demolishin’!

And since we’re on the topic, here’s one of my most prized possessions: a piece of the Seattle Kingdome:

They need to make that video last longer and put it to amusing music. And as for your piece of the Kingdome, Chandler, I’ll sell my hunk of sidewalk concrete.. I mean, valuable sports souvenir, for a measly twelve bucks.

Should have added some Benny Hill music to that…

My favorite memory of the Igloo was watching VanDam stop the terrorists who had the bomb.
