The same-sex marriage proposal between rival female hockey fans is your video of the week

If a Maple Leafs fan and a Senators fan can put aside their differences for holy matrimony, can world peace be far behind? This sends a positive message for so many reasons: not the least of which is that it’s a same-sex marriage proposal at an NHL hockey game … being presided over by a mascot cat.
In Canada, where same-sex marriage has been legal since 2004, this video is more noteworthy because of the jerseys they’re wearing, not because they’re both women. Beauty, eh.

IMHO:
It speaks volumes as to how advanced and tolerant we are as a society that a relationship between a Sens fan and a Leafs fan can not only exist in the public eye, but be cheered on by both sides.I have to admit, I’m not there yet. I don’t care what team people cheer for in the privacy of their own living room, but they don’t have to flaunt it about in public like this. Yet even I can see this for the beautiful symbol of inclusiveness which it is. Still, if my girlfriend ever brings home a Leafs jersey in a drunken stupor late at night, it’s going to precipitate a very serious discussion about our future together.
