Traitor! Miss USA is a Vancouver Canucks fan? How can this happen?

Getty Images Here’s Miss USA, Alyssa Campanella (pictured with Da’Rel Scott of the NY Giants), who was born in New Jersey, raised in California, lives in New York, and by all rights should be a Devils fan. Or we could be flexible if she became enamored with the Islanders or Kings sometime in her formative years. But below is proof that the woman who represents all that is good about this country — hot babes posing in swimwear — is some kind of foreign secret agent. She likes the Vancouver Canucks.
And not only that, but Miss Teen USA is in on it with her!

Upon further investigation it seems that Campanella is dating a Canadian: actor Torrance Coombs (who has not been in anything you’ve ever heard of, except for one episode of Battlestar Galactica, where he played, appropriately, an alien). (Update: Yes, I know he didn’t actually play an alien. More amazing to me than Canada has lost its sense of humor … Canada now has Twitter). Poor confused Alyssa goes on to trumpet her Canucks pride on NHL TV:
Alyssa and Miss Teen USA, Danielle Doty, both live in Trump Tower in New York, which is part of the deal in the year following a USA pageant win. Someone needs to tell The Donald that there are two young ladies who need a stern lecture about which country they’re supposed to be representing.

It pains me to report that Canada has no sense of humor. It may interest you to know that I don’t really think Alyssa is a traitor. The country that takes everything seriously. Sad, really.

Hold on there, Rick. I’m Canadian and I saw what you did there: humor all the way, and I took it as such, though I am a Canucks fan (when I can be bothered with hockey). I think our friend, MSG noodles, is a hockey fan, fullitme. Those guys tend to overreact just a bit. They’re good souls, but all that “talkin’ with my fists” tends to weed out “dude with a sense of humor” in favour of “dude with a small coat, big hat and a pair of hands like cinder blocks” in the hockey forums. Don’t judge us all by one coat and hat size.
