Web site dumps 8,000 Butterfinger candy bars in downtown Boston to mock Wes Welker

New York has its Super Bowl parade today, as you know. Meanwhile in Boston, 900 pounds of Butterfinger candy bars were dumped in the middle of Copley Square, and it appears that several people indeed layed a finger on them. Pawngo, an online pawn shop, deposited the candy in commemoration of Welker’s key dropped pass in the Super Bowl. This is just so wrong, somehow. Pawngo tells us:

Boston locals got a 900 pound sweet surprise courtesy of Pawngo in the center of Copley Square in the heart of Boston. 900 pounds, or 8,000 bars of Nestle Butterfingers were piled high with a sign entitled, “Thank you Wes Welker” — making everyone in the area stop to take pictures, grab a bar, and have a laugh.

Well, we’re pretty sure that not everyone was having a laugh.

Is Welker the new Bill Buckner? Anyway, at this point, Welker’s task is clear: he’s going to have to catch a baby.

Keep it up, Boston. Soon Wes may decide he’s had enough of you and ask for a trade.

I can name at least 20 teams (if not 31) that will definitely take him.

Steve Mariucci said it best, “This team isn’t even in the Super Bowl without Wes Welker.”

Besides, the pass was behind him. Oops, that would be blaming Giselle’s husband now, wouldn’t it?

ya that was not a good pass, if Tom would have hit him in stride, we wouldnt even be here right now.

      • donbp87 - Feb 8, 2012 at 10:50 PM

Learn how to watch football please! If he would have hit him in stride Wes Welker would be dead because the DB would have killed him or the pass would have been intercepted. He put that ball in a place that only Wes could make a play on it. The ball hit him in both hands. Elite receivers make that catch, and before anybody stupid replies to this comment go look at the replay of that pass and tell me i’m wrong.

welker is a good receiver by pro standards, not elite. physically he is too short to compete with supertalents like TO rice moss.

Wes is actually a FA come March 3rd (or whenever the new year starts), he will be free to go to any team he chooses, if he feels his time in NE has come to an end. Of course he can always get Franchised; but with all their impending free agents and the high price of franchising a wideout, that may deem impossible.

Wes would look great in purple getting all the underneath balls, with Q going across the middle, and Torrey going long.

Go find your own diamonds in the rough.

It wasn’t Boston fans who did this. It was a Denver-based pawn shop. Pretty sure Pats fans don’t agree with this sentiment. (I am one, and I do not)

      • drewsylvania - Feb 7, 2012 at 4:12 PM

        Beat me to it!

      • drewsylvania - Feb 7, 2012 at 4:25 PM

Yeah, why on earth would Pats’ fans have a problem with Welker? That’s like Tebow having a problem with God.

    • drewsylvania - Feb 7, 2012 at 3:55 PM

Don’t blame Boston. Pawngo is based in Denver. The owner must be a Teblower.

But yes, the pass was Brady’s fault. If they’re going to get on a receiver for dropping a pass, it should be Aaron Hernandez, who dropped an easy one on the last-minute drive.

If Welker did decide to leave the Patsies, his departure and the misdirected blame towards him or any other Pat could be explained, along with successive losses in their last two Super Bowl games, as the laws of karma at work.

We all know that the NFL gave Belicheat & the Pats a wink and a nod as punishment for Spygate because the prospect of a complete investigation would have seriously damaged the league’s image. It would seem that there is at least one more heart wrenching Super Bowl loss pending for their fans. Sorry to be you, Pat fans!

    littering is not nice.

    • drewsylvania - Feb 7, 2012 at 3:56 PM

Forgot to add this. Will they get fined for it.

      • bobwsc - Feb 8, 2012 at 9:30 AM

Mumbles Menino is on the case! I guess the silver lining of the Pats not winning is not having to hear him butcher a speech at the parade.

  3. Tim_Gilmour - Feb 7, 2012 at 5:09 PM

Catchable, but tough catch. Can’t blame him for that one unless you’re determined to blame one player for a team loss.

  4. trbowman - Feb 8, 2012 at 1:21 AM

I’d of picked some of them up! Butterfingers are delicious

  5. barryblogs - Feb 8, 2012 at 10:54 AM

Classless joke by a Denver pawn shop to get publicity – and it worked. Patriots will re-sign Welker and he and Brady will continue to have great years. Pats fans – calm down about the whole thing and get off Welker, Brady and his wife before you end up running them out of town.

    • drewsylvania - Feb 8, 2012 at 12:45 PM

To be fair, Gisele earned a few jeers for her comments. Though I bet she doesn’t care since she makes around three times as much as Tom does.

  6. AlohaMrHand - Feb 8, 2012 at 11:50 AM

A Boston pawn shop ought to dump some empty beer bottles in LoDo with a note saying Thank you Knoshawn Moreno.

    • drewsylvania - Feb 8, 2012 at 12:44 PM

Wouldn’t want to stoop to their level.

      • bozosforall - Feb 8, 2012 at 6:35 PM

Yeah, the only thing you stoop for is to slurp off your boyfriend Tom Brady.

  7. guinsrule - Feb 8, 2012 at 2:35 PM

If it’s not Welker’s fault, then it’s the Golden Boy’s fault. You have blame someone.

Amazing the lengths people will go to absolve Tom Brady of responsibility for that garbage pass.

  10. scir91onYouTube - Feb 15, 2012 at 8:33 PM

welker is no randy moss. randy would have caught that pass with absolutely no question. that pass and many others.
