Site: A Pacquiao-Mayweather fight could generate half-a-billion dollars

Reuters The latest estimates on potential moolah if Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather somehow end up facing each other in the ring? As much as $300 million in pay-per-view sales, according to the Long Beach Boxing Examiner. But that doesn’t include sponsors, live gate ticket sales and merchandise, which could bring the take to $500 million. (Cash register sound effect).
Consider this: Selling at $89.99 for Pay-Per-View with an estimated 3.5 million viewers, Pacquiao-Mayweather fight can generate over $300 million.
But the fight is still cataloged in the fiction section at this point. Sources say that Mayweather offered Pacquiao a $40 million guarantee during their recent phone conversation, but that Pacquiao would not get a share of pay-per-view and other revenue. Pacquiao turned that down, and countered with a 50-50 split proposal, which Mayweather’s camp rejected.
All of this leaves Pacquiao’s bombastic trainer, Freddie Roach, a bit flummoxed. (Some NSFW language in video below).
I see where Pacquiao is coming from here. But still, every time I turn down $40 million I get an all-day headache.

Get your math right 1 trillion = 1,000 billion; 1 billion = 1,000 million; The fight could be worth 500 million, which = 1/2 billion (not trillion)

The mathematically-impaired headline is the only reason I clicked on the link. Half a billion doesn’t seem all that far-fetched. I think, if it were my column or my site, I might change the headline before readers started to assume I was a total moron.
