Battered Tim Tebow turns down Pebble Beach Pro-Am … but Nick Saban is a go!

AP Big news coming out of Monterey County today: Alan Jackson is coming to the Salinas rodeo! No wait, that’s not it. Tim Tebow has decided to turn down an invitation to play at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament. But perk up, ladies: Nick Saban and Bill Belichick will be there!
AT&T Pro-Am tournament director Steve Worthy told the Monterey Herald that Tebow was invited to the Feb. 6-12 event, but will not play due to injuries suffered in Denver’s AFC Divisional playoff loss to New England. “Due to the injuries, it looks like he’s a no-go,” Worthy said.
However, Tebow’s loss is golf’s gain (I guess). Late additions to the field are Alabama’s Saban and Patriots head coach Belichick.
NFL players who have already committed to the tournament, slated for Feb.6-12 at Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill and the Shore Course at Monterey Peninsula Country Club, include Patriots QB Tom Brady, Giants pitcher Matt Cain, former head coach Herm Edwards and Dallas QB Tony Romo.
Cain and Edwards obviously aren’t NFL players, but you get the idea. I kind of think, actually, that Cain would have made an excellent quarterback.
Romo will be paired with Tiger Woods.
