Meanwhile, back in Hazzard, Bubba Watson was spending $110,000 to buy the ‘General Lee’

I would have preferred the car from Starsky and Hutch, or Knightrider. But then I’ve never been known for my taste. Anyway, Bubba Watson is sure going to look cool driving up to the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday in the General Lee — one of the original cars from The Dukes of Hazzard TV series. In fact, the car Watson purchased at auction on Sunday was the version which jumped the police car during the opening credits (cue Waylon Jennings theme).
Called “Lee 1,” it was totaled in the jump, but restoration brought it back to life over the course of 16 months. Autoblog calls the final price of $110,000 “seemingly paltry,” which is really more a matter of perspective than anything else.
This could be the beginning of a totaled car super collection for Watson. Next I would recommend Cameron’s dad’s car from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, or Jefferson’s car from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Is his birth name Bubba, or did he make a conscious decision to answer to that?
Wither way, it’s a shock he’d be interested in such a vehicle…
