Anonymous member of Boston Bruins organization says Tim Thomas is a ‘[Expletive] selfish [expletive]‘ for snubbing Obama
Jan 25, 2012, 1:37 PM EDT
AP According to Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe, a source within the Boston Bruins organization called Tim Thomas a “[expletive] selfish [expletive]” for skipping the White House ceremony honoring the team on Monday. Want to create some team dissent with a political statement in the middle of the season? Mission accomplished.
Thomas, as you know, said he was skipping the White House visit because “I believe the Federal government has grown out of control.”
Before last night’s game against the Capitals, Julien was asked whether Thomas’s act of putting himself before the team would cause problems with his teammates. Julien was loath to answer the question, preferring to focus on the Capitals.
“I don’t think I want to stand here and answer these questions today when we’ve got Washington tonight,’’ Julien said. “Our biggest concern right now is about winning this hockey game. It’s also about leaving [before] the All-Star break with a win under our belt and hopefully having a chance to be in first place.
“That’s my answer to anything that’s going to be asked right now. Because that’s really where our focus is. It’s unfortunate what happened yesterday. It’s the reality of the world. We’re a team thinking as a team right now.’’
The real concern here is not the size of the federal government, Mr. Thomas: it’s your anemic attempt at growing a mustache. We must push a bill through Congress to secure funding to get that mustache completed! Yes We Can!

Someone’s a ‘[Expletive] gutless [expletive]‘ for talking w/o manning up to it. Someone is also an idiot for arguing with Thomas’ right of freedom of expression. Out of everyone involved, he’s the one making the least noise and showing the most class.

And if an athlete protested Bush the same way, would you have submitted the same post? Just asking. Not showing up and making a statement about it is making plenty of noise. And I respect everyone’s right to personal expression but I hate to think these perfunctory championship congratulations are turning political. Every championship team gets invited to the White House every year regardless of who is President so it is hardly a political event.
That said, this country is great because you can do what you want and not suffer retribution because of it, if it doesn’t harm anyone. I will always root for Tim Thomas regardless of whether or not I agree with his politics. I miss the days when the sports pages were about sports and not about money or politics.

Yeah, I would have (and I detest both Bushes and the bushes that spawned them). Some consider meeting the President a great honor, and it might be if one were personally invited because one did something remarkable, as opposed to an annually-staged photo op existing only because of a team sporting event. Dude doesn’t want to go, don’t go. It isn’t a game, it isn’t practice. Say you need the rest and stay home.
Personally, I’d rather have an audience with Mel Brooks. THAT would be an honor.

Who blames him? Who really wants to shake hands and have a photo taken with a socialist?

If Obama is a Socialist, then what were Ronald Regan or Richard Nixon? Both of those GOP presidents have a history that is more liberal than Obama.
In reality, most people “hate” Obama because…. well, I won’t jump the gun, but the story I keep hearing is that the guy is an African Muslim because he’s black and has a funny name.
Stay classy.

No, not his name nor race. It is his desire to drive out free market from America and try to institute collectivism for people who don’t do squat for this country. I wasn’t alive for Reagan nor Nixon so I can’t vouch for their policies etc.

What has Obama done to this economy that GW policies didn’t destroy? I’m not sure why you’re blaming Obama for the deficit when most of the red tape is related to GW tax cuts for the extremely wealthy and for funding wars in the Middle East.
I’m not a huge fan of Obama. I want a president who protects the environment and doesn’t bow down to corporate interests. Nixon protected the environment much better than Obama (see Obama’s response to BP spill), and Reagan actually stood up to some of the corporate bs that was brewing back in the day. (His first term, not his second.) So brush up on these cats before spewing about how Obama is a Socialist.
And what’s wrong with being a Socialist? What’s wrong with expecting corporations and those who get fat, fithy rich off them to pony up in terms of taxes? Why is Mitt’s secretary’s tax rate at 30% and Mitt’s tax rate is at 15%? That, to me, is Socialism for rich folks. But we don’t hear that side of the story. We never do.
No, the folks who “hate” Obama (and use that term) claim he is a Muslim. They claim he wasn’t born in America. They claim he is practicing class warfare. They claim anything they can to mask the fact that they’re bitter over how John McCain and Sarah Palin, of all people, aren’t sitting in the White House.
Don’t wreck yourself with rhetoric.

What’s wrong with being a socialist? You’re kidding, right?
Socialism….
Kills entrepreneurships and small business. Any thriving country relies on entrepreneurship and/or innovation. They are both engines of growth and both require a market economy.
Promotes equal pay. Why do I need to bust my tail while the guy beside is dicking around when in the end, we get the same paycheck. No incentives=zero growth.
Instills a higher debt ratio per citizen.
Promotes higher taxes and a bigger government along with increased government power in their hands. Bigger governments mean stagnant economies and less innovation.
Promotes communism which has failed in every country it has been instilled in mainly due to the lack of desire to produce goods.
And please leave your Obama “hate” spill at the door.

1. Did I say you “hate” Obama? I said, folks “hate” Obama, and they “hate” him for really stupid reasons. Like he’s Black and his middle name is Hussein. Apparently you’re unaware of the deep seated racism still alive and well in the good old Capitalistic USA.
2. Yeah, higher taxes. Got a problem with that? We’re in a deficit that everyone who “hates” Obama blames him for, and you still want to cut taxes? When the top 1% of this country make about 2000x more than the average working stiff? The 30% you pay is twice the rate a multi-millionaire like Mitt Romney pays. B/c, see, Mitt the Magnificent makes his money off of investments. Ooooooh. Let’s give him a 5th house, while we try to make it through foreclosures.
3. Socialism doesn’t automatically place garbage truck drivers into the same pay range as CEOs. Sorry to disappoint you. Capitalism, however, tells CEOs and Wall Street honks that they deserve bonuses after the US Government bails them out.
4. Oh, and speaking of bailouts, that’s Socialism. Who bailed out airlines? Who bailed Wall Street? Bush, bro. You know, the anti-Socialist (cough, cough).
5. You still haven’t proven Obama is a Socialist which is only important because of your original, dense post which responded to.
Now, please, stop embarrassing yourself.

When you strip away the rhetoric, there is not much to say against Obama, unless you are a liberal. His stances have been consistently right of Reagan, Nixon, Eisenhower, etc. When you step back and look at how the wealthy and corporations have taken over our government and country, I wonder how we little people haven’t united against it. The regular working folk have been taking a beating and we continue to fight about nonsense while we pay the brunt of the taxes and see our services diminished. The wealthy are doing better than ever while shipping our jobs over seas and getting a bigger chunk of the GNP. Obama isn’t doing much to stop this and the GOP is shamelessly abetting it. The GOP is winning the rhetoric war and we all lose.
