Reuters The White House says that President Obama spoke with Joe Paterno’s wife, Sue, and son, Jay, on Monday to express his condolences. Joe Paterno died of complications from lung cancer on Sunday.
The president recalled fond memories of when he first met Coach Paterno and said he and first lady Michelle Obama ‘would keep the Paterno family in their prayers during this difficult time,’ according to the Office of the Press Secretary.
