Steven Tyler’s National Anthem: you’re not going to Hollywood, dawg (video)

Jan 23, 2012, 9:00 AM EDT

Aerosmith singer Tyler sings the national anthem before the New England Patriots met the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL AFC Championship football game in Foxborough Reuters

“As bombs bursting in air”? My only regret is that Simon Cowell wasn’t around to critique Steven Tyler’s rendition of The Star Spangled Banner on Sunday before the Ravens-Patriots game. “Pointless. Pitchy. Rubbish. NEXT …”

The Ravens’ Haloti Ngata didn’t seem to dig it either.

Still, Tyler had a better day than Kyle Williams.

    Non-news story of the day.

I don’t like Tyler, but when I saw multiple headlines about it today I had to watch to see how bad it was. I have to say it wasn’t all that bad. Yeah he flubbed a line or two, but it wasn’t as objectionable as most renditions.

Makes me wonder if this is all just an NBC vs Fox issue???

It sounds pretty good if you overlay Hendrix riff over it. It’s Tyler folks…what did you think he was going to sound like?

HUH?!? that was a GUY?? I thought it was Janice Joplin or Mama Cass in an age-projection video.

It was fine. He missed a few notes but at least he has a nice voice. The offensive part was that he was wearing a bedazzled Patriots scarf.
