For those of you looking for comeback story to get behind, we have the tale of thirty-one year old soccer player Salvador Cabanas who is set to make a comeback to the world of professional soccer in his homeland of Paraguay.

Two years ago, it seemed highly unlikely that Salvador would ever play soccer again because he was involved in a Mexico City bar incident where someone shot him in the head:

The club, 12 de Octobre, is seeking approval from Cabanas’ doctors and will eventually contact the Mexican club America about a transfer.

Cabanas was playing with America when he was shot on Jan. 25, 2010, in a bar in an upscale neighborhood in the Mexican capital. A bullet fragment remains in his skull because doctors decided it was too risky to remove.

You have to give kudos to Cabanas for attempting a comeback under those circumstances and hopefully, he’ll get his soccer career back on track after many would have given up hope of ever playing again.
