One year after being homeless, Ted Williams shows off new home, gives thanks

AP It’s a bit hard to believe that we’re at just about the one-year anniversary of the day that Ted Williams broke into the news. The homeless man with the golden radio voice was first “discovered” by a Columbus, Ohio, videographer, soon became a viral YouTube sensation, then experienced a series of ups and downs (including a job with the Cleveland Cavaliers and an appearance on Dr. Phil) before getting clean and sober and settling down.
Mr Williams said: “It’s a hallelujah moment every day I wake up. I couldn’t have prayed for anything like this, I couldn’t have dreamed that my life would end up like this.”
To Mr Williams’s immense pride, his new home includes a fireplace he can “get butt naked next to if I want” and a giant walk-in closet that doubles as his recording studio.
“Look at this closet,” he beams while being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight. “A year ago I was living in a box.”

Mr. Chandler, I’m glad that you ran this story. But a year ago you ran this headline: “Rick’s Cafe: Did Ted Williams, the golden-voiced homeless guy, con us all?” The headline seemed reasonable enough, but I can’t say the same for the attack on this guy’s credibility that followed…or the basis for some of the questions that you raised.
In hindsight — in that previous article — did you go too far?
