A Tim Tebow, Tiger Woods golf pairing may be happening, people … twice

A “highly placed” source with the Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament is saying that the tournament is strongly considering issuing an invitation to Tim Tebow. And if that happens, his partner, says the source, will be Tiger Woods. Now, I’ve seen Tebow at a golf tournament — back in July, before he became Tim Tebow — and the crowd following him was pretty huge then. Tebow and Woods now? Good luck dealing with the mass of humanity following that group. Pebble Beach is going to have to file an environmental impact report before it can begin the tourney.

On Monday, Woods announced he will enter the event for the first time since 2002. The tournament has not yet officially announced who his amateur partner will be. Early speculation has centered around Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

But, the source said, if Tebow accepts his invitation and Woods approves the pairing, the two will partner.

Woods will be making his 2012 U.S. debut at Pebble Beach. He won this tournament in 2000 with a closing 64 that bettered Matt Gogel by two shots.

The Pebble Beach event is Feb. 9-12. Meanwhile, officials at the Humana Challenge PGA event in La Quinta, Calif., are saying that they’ll invite Tebow to that tournament (Jan. 19-22) should he, ah, be available then. The New England Patriots will have to decide that.

Larry Thiel, the Humana’s tournament chairman, said the event likely would reach out to Tebow should he become available for next week’s event.

“He wants to think ‘win.’ Monday is when I would reach out,” Thiel said in an email to Golfweek. “We would love for (him to play). We will react after Sunday.”

Tebow is an avid golfer who has played in a handful of tournaments in the past two years, including the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Stateline, Nev., where I followed him for a day. Sadly, Jesus does not seem to take as active an interest in Tebow’s golf game as he does in football … at Tahoe, Tim finished in 67th place, behind A.J. Hawk, Ray Romano and Mr. Peterman from Seinfeld.

Tiger needs someone who is grounded morally and ethically, rather than the yes men he has had around him for years. He needs stability in his life, after making a disgrace of it.

seriously…you’re that squeaky clean huh? you should be if you’re making comments like that. Bill Clinton nailed a fat intern and will go down as one of the most popular presidents ever.

If every man had the opportunity to bang as much tail as Tiger had, 90-95% of us would do it.

Will the T offer a three way with the other T? We all know he can make those arrangements.

trbowman – Not if they were married with a family.

Tiger would love to have some real positive exposure with Tim Tebow. Who knows, they may becoine great friends and Tim could end up having a positive influence on Tiger’s life. Tiger’s private life is his own. I just hope like I would for anyone else, that he finds peace and happiness in his life amidst being pulled in so many directions at the same time for various functions and issues.

I don’t condone what Tiger did but I hope over time he comes to peace with the loss of what he had and lost and he finds happiness which is not with dozens of one night flings. Who knows, there may be a reconciliation at some point in time. Nothing is impossible.
