I’ve about had my fill of staged “accidents” at NBA games, so let’s just hope this one is real. If so, it’s wonderful. Here we see the Utah Jazz attempt to honor a longtime ticket holder with a birthday cake, but the Jazz mascot fumbles the baked treat, and it falls on the crowd below.
Why it might be fake:
The cake pan seemed to have more Teflon than a NASA space capsule.
Announcer guy isn’t doing much apologizing.
Lots of closeups of the crowd below having a cakefight.
The Jazz promotions department must have figured, hey, everyone likes cake. Let’s drop one on the crowd. How I’d know that this was 100 percent real: If they were giving the guy a bowling ball.

The black tape at the drop point sort of gives it away. Hey, hand it to the mascot, he hit his mark.
