There’s a good, old-fashioned knockdown country fuss happening in Mississippi right now, as outgoing governor Haley Barbour has pardoned 200 people for a variety of crimes on his last day of office. Among those is Scott Favre, brother of Brett Favre (Scott is far left in this linked photo), who spent a year under house arrest and two years on probation for a drunk driving crash that killed his best friend in 1996.

So Favre’s record is wiped clean — it’s as if it never happened. Not sure if he considers this a good thing, though. I’ll bet a lot of people people didn’t even know about his conviction until it was brought up because of the pardon. Pierce County Herald:

Scott Favre drove in front of a train in Pass Christian, killing his passenger Mark Haverty. He pleaded guilty in 1997. Scott Favre was among dozens of people who were pardoned or given early releases by the Republican Barbour during his final days in office. The records were released yesterday, the final day of Barbour’s second term.

Favre’s case is decidedly minor compared to the crimes committed by some of the people whom Barbour pardoned.

Victims and their family members are not amused by Barbour’s pardons, as you might imagine.
