Just when you thought that you had seen and heard it all in regards to animals named after Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, this clip is unearthed of a racing greyhound named, “Flying Tim Tebow”.

The below race is from Derby Lane in St. Petersburgh, Florida back in late 2011 and keep an eye on “Flying Tim Tebow” (not pictured) in lane number three.

Also, listen to the race announcer who busts out some classic gems during his race call near the end:

Greyhound racing is cruel and inhumane. Greyhounds endure lives of nearly constant confinement, kept in cages barely large enough for them to stand up or turn around. While racing, many dogs suffer and die from injuries including broken legs, paralysis, and cardiac arrest. And many greyhounds are euthanized every year, as the number retired from racing exceeds the number of adoptive homes.

At racetracks across the country, greyhounds endure lives of confinement. According to industry statements, greyhounds are generally confined in their cages for approximately 20 hours per day. They live inside warehouse-style kennels in stacked cages that are barely large enough to stand up or turn around. Generally, shredded paper or carpet remnants are used as bedding.

An undercover video recently released by GREY2K USA shows the conditions in which these gentle dogs are forced to live:

Greyhound Racing is a sport and the animals are fantastic athletes. I am speaking from experience as I am a former Greyhound Trainer and am always sickened to see the consistent, inaccurate postings from the Grey2KUSA group. Dogs do play an important role in our lives and Greyhounds deserve their right to race. Yes, they have a right to race and if they could speak they would tell you so! This is America, land of the free. There are responsible people out there that care for their animals. Stop lumping everyone together! For example not all parents abuse their children. Not all pit bull dogs are dangerous… The group continues to try and lump the entire industry into an isolated incident. AND for the record, Grey2K failed to mention greyhounds on the list of injuries that returned to racing. I found several that raced after their said injuries.

My ex-racer is now living in my home with his adopted Greyhound brother. He loved to race and misses the track life as well as his buddy. 20 hours in a crate? Not in my care as a trainer, nor in the care of my former trainer associates. I also volunteer with our local Greyhound adoption chapter to help place retired racers in responsible homes. I have many friends in the industry that practice responsible greyhound racing and I am proud to know the greyhound Flying Tim Tebow personally. Grey2K is a Political Action Group/Lobbying concern. They are not involved in hands on adoption, welfare or rescue of dogs especially Greyhounds. They receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations each year and yet little if any, is directed to the actual care and welfare of Greyhounds. More information in the links below.

God bless America, Tim Tebow and Greyhound Racing of which I am proud to be part of and still have the right to my freedom of speech to say so.
