Tiger Woods can’t believe Stanford missed those field goals

And Stanford wins the Fiesta Bo … ahhh, hooked it.

And if anyone knows about knocking a ball into the rough, it’s someone like Tiger Woods. The Cardinal lost to Oklahoma State, 41-38, on Monday after Jordan Williamson missed field goals at the end of regulation and in OT. The first was a 34-yarder he pulled badly to the left, despite some body English from a rather famous Stanford alum on the sideline.

You know things are getting back to normal for Tiger when he starts showing up at Stanford events. But for Williamson, things aren’t going to be back to normal for quite a while.

Following the game, ESPN’s Joe Schad tweets:

@schadjoe Joe Schad
Stanford OL David DeCastro to reporter who approached sobbing K Jordan Williamson: “Leave him alone!”

Q13 Fox News Seattle’s Aaron Levine:

…But after seeing kicker Jordan Williamson inconsolably crying in the corner of Stanford’s locker room, u can’t be mad. You just can’t.

But was the miss in OT actually Williamson’s fault?

Anyway, how could you not feel bad for Williamson, a freshman, whose coach decided to put the game on his shoulders instead those of Andrew Luck?

Even Jimmer Fredete was bummed out.

@jimmerfredette
Wow great game Ok state and Stanford! I really feel for Stanford’s kicker though. That’s tough. Still Congrats to Ok state on a big win!

Also, a sad nod to those who took OklaSt and gave the 3 1/2 points. Going for a FG in OT when your team has the ball on the half-yard line, that’s a tough one.

And finally, in the most important news from the game:

@AndyHutchins
We are all the guy on the ottoman who is ignoring an anthropomorphic bag in the Tostitos commercial.

That Tostitos commercial is horrifying.

    They kept cutting to shots of him on the bench… and no one was within 10 feet of him. Each time he went out, I kept thinking “he’s just a kid…”. I felt so bad for him.

    Time will heal your sorrow Mr. Williamson . Just go out and be a good person today . Tomorrow will take care of itself . What’s worst ? Losing your mom and dad in a car accident or missing a field goal kick ? Right , put things in the proper prospective . You’ll be okay .

    Quite a stretch to fit Eldrick into the story. The title suggests he might have said something, yet nothing is reported. And if anyone should understand choking, it’s Tiger. He’s done nothing but choke since Elin went upside his head.

    As long as Williamsom remembers it’s just a game, he’ll be fine. But I have to admit, I lost a little respect for OK St. just kicking the field goal instead of running it from the half yard line. I know, kicking it isn’t a given (ask the Stanford guy), but still, it just felt less than manly for them to take a knee then kick it.

    Then again, it did keep the Big 12′s perfect Bowl Record intact for the year. Sweet.

      I was also surprised OSU was that quick to go for the field goal in OT. Statistically speaking, I think the TD might have been the safer bet–at least run a sneak on first down before settling. It was first and goal from inside the one, after all. They showed some amazing confidence in their kicker to instantly go for the field goal after having watch the other kicker miss two within a couple minutes of playing time.
