Run! It’s the Occupy Octopus! Protesters hijack end of Tournament of Roses Parade (video)

AP Yeah, I thought the Rose Parade seemed a little longer than usual. After the final official float passed by and workers packed Bob Eubanks and Stephanie Edwards into their crates, a few, um, unofficial attractions made their way down Colorado Blvd. on Monday. The Occupy L.A. movement made the Rose Parade a party with a Mardi Gras-like procession to protest corporate excess.
Of course it was hard to compete with Dick Van Patten’s Natural Pet Foods, Inc. float, featuring Tillman, the surfing bulldog. But the protesters did their best with the terrifying Occupy Octopus (photo below). What does the Occupy Octopus represent, you ask? From the Associated Press caption:
[Protesters] carry an octopus made out of plastic bags. It’s tentacles, they say, represent corporate greed. Some spectators yelled, “Get a job!” as they passed.
But the tail end of the parade was more than just the Occupy movement. Also represented were:
Code Pink, a gay and lesbian rights organization.
This craft project.
Cops in riot gear.
See you next year!
