Getty Images This is old, but new to me and rather amusing: Rory McIlroy’s ex-girlfriend, whom he left just before beginning a relationship with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, held a “Golf Pros and Tennis Hoes”-themed dinner party that will be shown on Christmas on the Irish television network TV3. Holly Sweeney (pictured), a former rugby cheerleader, is McIlroy’s ex, and hosts a show on the network entitled Come Dine With Me. According to the Irish Daily Mail, as Sweeney was filming the episode, McIlroy texted her, asking her to call it off.
The Irish Daily Mail reveals today that the 20-year-old Ulster Rugby cheerleader laughed when she read the texts from her former boyfriend, who took up with tennis No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki shortly after he ended their relationship this summer.
“She was preparing the starter when her iPhone went off. A series of text messages arrived one after another and she just stopped dead in the kitchen,” a source on the programme told the paper.
“She started laughing and said Rory had just discovered that she was having a tennis and golf themed night and asked her to back out of it. She just laughed and carried on cooking,” the TV3 show source said.
Hmm, who knew that Ireland also has its own Kardashian sister? More fun from the Belfast Telegraph:
McIlroy split from his childhood sweetheart in July after meeting the tennis ace Wozniacki (21) at a boxing match in Germany.
Since then Holly has used her Twitter account to express her feelings. Most recently she had another dig in a tweet which read — ‘Rory McIlroy wrist injury fears: Well that’s what happens when ye get rid of yer girlfriend.’
