Tebow family pastor: Broncos winning streak is due to ‘God’s favor’
Dec 13, 2011, 5:48 PM EDT
It’s official: God is a Broncos fan. That’s according to Pastor Wayne Hanson, head of the Summit Church in Castle Rock, CO, which has strong ties to Tim Tebow’s family — in fact, Tebow’s father often speaks there. Hanson told TMZ that the Broncos’ winning streak is due to God aiding the team on the field.
Hanson tells us, “It’s not luck. Luck isn’t winning 6 games in a row. It’s favor. God’s favor.”
Pastor Hanson adds, “God has blessed his hard work.”
We asked Hanson if Tebow would be winning games if he wasn’t such a strong believer — and the pastor replied, “No, of course not.”
Questions, of course, abound. Foremost: If the Broncos lose to the Patriots on Sunday, what does that mean? Has God switched teams?
I’m just assuming here that the Lord has NFL RedZone, and is manipulating all scoring plays while consulting his chart on which players are the holiest.

“I think God is Santa Claus for grownups. Lets see, God has a list of sins we have to obey = you better not shout, you better not cry, you better not pout, I’m telling you why.is He watches over us and sees everything = He sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows if you’re
awake. He will judge us and determine if we get into heaven = He knows if you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness sake.
I think it all started by some tribal leader as a way to control his “flock” and attract new members. Sounds like a political party. Now the leader says I’m too busy to do all this preaching and commanding so I’m gonna get my buddy to be the priest. The idea grew and soon a building was built so the “flock” could gather every week to hear “The word of God”. The priest says “I have to do something to set myself apart and show my superior wisdom and position”. Hence the robes and mitre. Next lets build an organ so we can have a better show on Sunday, draw more people. next lets build a bigger church to show our God is the better God.”
“Now in Europe the the leaders want the riches they find down south in the middle east so the priests condemn the religion there and call for a Holy War to convert the heathens to their point of view but in reality to control the riches in the land of the heathens. Now the new world is discovered and over the next few centuries the Pope divides the new world up between the superpowers of the time. Spain you get the Americas, the Portuguese get the Phillipines and parts of China and Japan. The English get India and parts of China and it’s off we go. Spread the word for me boys. I’m gonna send priests with you to convert the new heathens but also to see what riches you find because the church wants its share. Now move ahead to today. The catholic church is the biggest Broadway show in the world with road companies throughout the world with it’s leaders dressed up in lame crossdressing bejeweled outfits whom no one can make fun of for fear of showing the emeperor has no clothes.”“Don’t get me wrong, people of faith do wonderous things helping one another through hard times, coping with losses of loved ones, treating one another as brothers all stems from these belief systems which is the ggod part but organized religion ie churches have started more wars and killed more people that any other force on Earth. Stay spiritual but put not your faith in princes.”

This is sick, plain and simple.
Tim Tebow is winning football games as a reward for his faith???
Attention every poor Christian parent struggling to put food on your child’s plate.
Attention every under privileged Christian family in a war torn country.
Attention every good Christian who may may be fighting a terminal illness.
You have not done enough to prove your faith in god, or else you would have been more handily rewarded.

Speaking as a born-again believer, I’ve always felt uncomfortable about those supposedly praising on-field gestures. What are they saying, “God made me victorious over my heathen opponents”? Are they attributing their success to the belief that God loves them more than their opponents, or, even worse, to the belief that they love God more than their opponents?

So what happens next season when defenses have a year’s worth of film to study on Tim Tebow and he starts getting destroyed? And are there not players on the other teams that are just as faithful as Tebow who also prayed for victory and lost? Why didn’t God answer their prayers? And why doesn’t Tebow give God the credit when he loses? Lets see if he does that when they are 4-12 next year. I just think it trivializes your God and your faith to suggest that God cares one iota about the outcome of a football game.

Tebow has a stupid pastor, this is a stupid story. Is Tebow stupid?
Tim-boy – remember the parable about the two people in the synagogue, one in the front row in front of the whole world, the other on his knees in the shadows at the rear of the church. Which one are you?
Cappyjones – the last sentence of your 7:11 just about sums it up. Thanks

can’t wait to hear the excuse when he loses. thanking god when you win is ridiculous. why did he make YOU win and not the guy on the other team that was praying just as hard to him?

Thank you to those who have posted on this article. I appreciate your thoughtful blogs. It has inspired me to type my first post. Please give me some first timer leniency. We have all personally come short of God’s standards and I am thankful that God has always shown me mercy and blessed me beyond anything that I deserve. Although I have never gone hungry, I would praise God and thank him even if I had no food. I believe Tim Tebow will praise God and give Him thanks whether he wins on Sunday or loses. God is not as concerned about who wins a football game or who wins the election as president or who makes more money as he is about our relationships. It has been pointed out in this blog that men have done some horrible things in the name of religion and in the name of God. By nature we are going to corrupt and mess things up and hurt each other, this started in the Garden of Eden. Fortunately, it doesn’t end there. Even though we have turned on God and done horrible things, he has forgiven us and loves us. I am reminded by Christmas that God paid the price for our mess and allows us to commune with Him. It is comforting to me to know that there isn’t anything so evil that I could do but what God would still love me and accept me as his child.

Lovie Smith and Matt Forte are both Christians too. Do the Bears go undefeated every year?
