Mad Max sequel? Nope, just the annual Thanksgiving dune buggy rally

When the apocalypse comes, the entire world will look like this. But for now it’s just the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area in Glamis, Calif., where thousands of dune buggy/sand bike enthusiasts gathered over the Thanksgiving weekend for their annual rally. When I was a kid our family had a dune buggy, and it was the coolest thing ever — although the sand seemed to be a living entity and ended up everywhere. And that’s not good, especially during Thanksgiving dinner.
