Group wants MLB to sever ties with Glenn Beck

Nov 15, 2011, 2:02 PM EDT

We’ve written about this before, but with the Major League Baseball owners meetings looming, a group is stepping up its efforts to try and convince the league to ends its affiliation with former Fox TV pundit Glenn Beck. Americans United for Change is a bit peeved that GBTV, Beck’s online network, uses Advanced Media, the interactive arm of, for its streaming video platform. AUFC says that Beck says racist and hateful things, is generally icky, and how in the world can MLB be associated with him? A petition on their site calling for Beck’s ouster has gathered more than 11,000 signatures, and they have launched a new radio ad in Milwaukee:

Somehow I have a feeling that this will not be the first item on the agenda at the MLB meetings. But with enough publicity, the subject will come up.

Ad pressure mounts on Major League Baseball to dump Glenn Beck [Washington Post]

I hate Beck as much as the next guy, but I also respect the need for MLB/ to turn a profit. If Beck is paying for their services, so be it.

Now, if the services are donated, that’s a different story.

I don’t agree with Beck on alot of things, but I didn’t realize that freedom of speech only pertained to those with liberal views anymore. Get rid of Olbermann and Bill Maher, get them off the air, then I might back this.

I’m a part time listener to Beck as my wife listens to him a lot. I have never heard him say anything vengeful as the anti-911 family quote they had and I highly doubt he’d say anything remotely close to that. I’d have to suppose it’s cut and splice hatchet job. My friend can’t stand Beck with a passion and claims he says that kind of stuff ALL THE TIME, but when asked, confesses he never really ever listened to his show. He just believes what others tell him its like.

I support free enterprise and if it pays the bills, then they have the right to use it. If enough people boycott, then they can drop him. It’s MLB’s choice. Funny, when a conservative group boycotts someone for their particular stance on an issue like abortion or gay rights, then they’re told to go jump in a lake. But when some lefties do it, its in the name of truth, justice and the American way.

For an alleged peddler of hatred, he sure stirs up a LOT of hatred in people!
