Longtime readers know that we have a weird obsession here with odd sea creatures, so when a spiny lumpsucker is in the news, there’s no way we can ignore it. It seems that a baby lumpsucker was caught off the shore of Cornwall, in Britain, which is quite rare — they usually don’t stray far from Greenland, where they enjoy the cold water and the (guessing here) solitude.
Anyway, the fish has been transported to an aquarium in Newquay, where it has become quite an attraction. Blue Reef Aquarium spokesman Matt Slater gives us our Quote of the Day:
“However this thimble-sized baby is incredibly comical and very cute looking and is proving to be one of the most popular creatures with our visitors.”
Cornwall must be one happenin’ place.
