John Brown Univ. TP Game still ‘The best technical foul in sports’ (video)

USA Today dubbed it ‘The best technical foul in sports’, and I’d have to agree. From Siloam Springs, Ark., here are the fans at John Brown University engaging in their long-standing basketball tradition of covering the court with toilet paper for their team’s first basket of the season. After the cleanup delay, the NAIA school went on to beat Hillsdale Freewill Baptist, 101-58.

In case you’re wondering why no NCAA schools do this, such shenanigans have been outlawed there.

I’d give it second place… #1 to me will forever be the famed ‘Rat Delay’ in Florida during the Stanley Cup Finals Game 3 between the Colorado Avalanche and Florida Panthers. When the Panthers scored, the fans would shower the ice with plastic rats (long story)… well, most were plastic anyway. The referees, after two bouts of this, finally declared that any further rat delays would result in a penalty to the Panthers.

Whether or not that would have happened, we’ll never know- the Panthers never scored again in the game, and lost Game 4 at home as well 1-0 in triple overtime to give the Avs their first Stanley Cup. But I’ll never forget watching in awe as a shower of black plastic rats caused Avs goalie Patrick Roy to hide under his net.

I hope that’s the cheap stuff, they’re tossing onto the court.
