So what happens when a pro soccer player punches a ref in front of a cop?

Well, for one thing, the player retires the next day. The video linked below shows Moldovan Top Flight midfielder Julian Bursuc unleashing a powerful right to the face of referee Ghenadie Sidenco in the 55th minute of his Sfintul Gheorge’s Divizia Nationala match at Iskra-Stal. The cop may look like he’s going to let it go, but no: Bursuc was taken into custody a short time later.
In fact:
A Moldovan top flight player who punched a referee in the face was so ashamed with himself that he immediately retired from the game.
To which smart-alec Yahoo commenter CollinsCollage replied: No he did NOT retire, he joined Chelsea and he played last weekend, got carded too like all his teammates….
