Tony Romo announces wife’s pregnancy at high school speaking engagement

Oct 25, 2011, 3:37 PM EDT

Tony Romo, Candace Crawford AP

Candice Crawford is pregnant, says husband (and NFL quarterback, I’m told) Tony Romo. The first clue was when the Cedar Hill High School marching band formed a baby carriage in the middle of the school quad.

OK, they didn’t actually do that: but Romo did, oddly, announce the news at a Cedar Hill High (Texas) speaking appearance today.

Tony Romo dropped a bombshell when a teen at a local high school asked him a question Tuesday morning.

When the youngster asked if Romo had any kids, the quarterback replied, “I got one on the way. My wife’s pregnant.”

Romo and Crawford were married five months ago. Curiously, there were no followup questions by any math enthusiasts in the audience.

Here’s video of the big announcement. The weird part: Romo got bigger applause for “I don’t have any kids” than he did for “My wife’s pregnant.” Hmm.

I’m told that because of the way he throws interceptions and fumbles the football, that he will not be allowed to hold the baby for at least 10 years..and only then if the kid has a safety net at the bottom.

“Romo and (the pregnant) Crawford were married five months ago. Curiously, there were no followup questions by any math enthusiasts in the audience.

According to the article, Romo didn’t say that his wife was about to give birth. He said she was pregnant. You don’t have to wait nine months to learn that. Guess the math enthusiasts knew that.

I agree with “hans52″. Penalty flag on you, Rick, for needlessly raining on the guy’s parade. Why the cheap shot? Pretty amateurish on your part.

      But typical.

Pretty funny to read someone try and cheap shot a guy and instead end up looking like a dolt.

That’s ok Rick, I thought it was a funny piece…

If I want to really read or care about the baby, I’ll read People magazine or some such..

You keep the humor man, I thought it was funny.
