Gay student claims he was kicked off cheerleading squad for kissing another boy (video)

I am shocked, shocked to learn that this happened in Texas: A 17-year-old male student at Alice High School says he was booted from the cheerleading squad when a school surveillance camera caught him smooching another boy in the band room. The student, who does not want to be named, said that the school is unfairly punishing him because of his sexual orientation, and would not have kicked a girl off the squad for kissing a boy.

In fact, said the student, the cheerleading squad currently includes one girl who has a child, and another who is pregnant. And we assume that those things happened the traditional way. London Daily Mail:

Chuck Smith, deputy executive director of Equality Texas, told MSNBC.com: ‘There aren’t any laws in Texas that protect on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, unfortunately.

‘The issue here is whatever is in the school’s code of conduct, and whether it’s being enforced equally.

‘If kissing in public is not being enforced by anyone by the gay students, then that’s discrimination. And if he was targeted for no other reason than that, then that’s discrimination.’

In a statement, the school district said: ‘While kissing is not an appropriate conduct for students at school, the district does not suspend students for kissing other students at school, regardless of the gender of the student.

‘The matter is still under review by the district.’

The statement added that cheerleaders had to abide by the Cheer Program Handbook, which ‘requires students to adhere to a higher standard of conduct than that which applies to the general student population’.

For now the school is giving the old “the matter is still under review by the district” brushoff. In other words, ‘we’re running this by our attorneys to make sure we aren’t legally liable.’ In the meantime, Mrs. Ballbricker will be watching.

For now the school is giving the old “the matter is still under review by the district” brushoff. In other words, ‘we’re running this by our attorneys to make sure we aren’t legally liable.’

    ——————————————————————-

Not quite. ACTUAL TRANSLATION: “By placing this under ‘review’, we can accomplish our goal of punishing the student because the season is moving forward, games are being played, and he’s not on the sidelines doing what he wants to do, which is cheering. If our attorneys tell us we might be legally liable, we’ll wait another six weeks, then tell him he can cheer again. By then the season should be over.”

Regardless, note to young man: get used to it. You want to live an amoral lifestyle, expect to be an outcast.

You are kidding, right? I tend to agree that the district will delay this until the season is over, but you should have stopped there. Last time I checked, people frowned on teenage pregnancy or even premarital sex in general. Aren’t those aspects of an amoral lifestyle, or is this the “gay-only” amorality you are describing? When you are out of the 1950′s, let’s us know.

I am shocked, shocked to read this first sentence on an MSNBC blog. I LOVE getting your off-topic opinions mixed in with your stories…just like I LOVE getting a turd mixed in with my cereal.
