LA Times poll: Who showed worse sportsmanship, Harbaugh or Schwartz?

The big 49ers-Lions post-game kerfuffle is what the football world is talking about today, which is too bad, because there were three or four great NFL finishes on Sunday. Not to mention the tragic demise of the UFL (taps). By now you’ve seen video of the incident frame-by-frame, and have decided which coach was most at fault. Who ya got?

The Los Angeles Times asked that musical question, and here are the results so far:

Harbaugh 30.2 percent.
Schwartz 40.4 percent.
Both equal 25.1 percent.
It’s all good 4.1 percent.

Schwartz comes off as the bigger jerk by a surprising 10.2 percent, with my pick, both equal, badly trailing the leaders.

But perhaps I’ll change my vote due to this: It seems that Schwartz did some trash talking of his own during the first quarter, when Harbaugh was flagged for challenging a scoring play which by rule could not be challenged. Schwartz did a LOT of mouthing off toward the 49ers sideline, it appears. So maybe after the game, the disgruntled hobbit got what he deserved. Video here.

That’s a pretty dumb rule, by the way. Fifteen yards for challenging an “unchallengeable” play? How about this: Ref picks up challenge flag, gives it back to coach, tells him “You can’t challenge that, dummy. Put the flag back in your sock.” Why all the drama?

If only all the coaches of the world could get along as well as Harbaugh and Pete Carroll.

Then there’s this.
