The pressure of making a field goal can get to even the best athletes and NASCAR driver Carl Edwards got a chance to feel that during a recent trip to Miami’s Sun Life Stadium.
Edwards was part of a promotional contest for the Ford Championship Series called, “Field Goal For Ford” where if he hit a field goal attempt from thirty-five yards out, he could win a new Ford Mustang for two lucky contest winners.
Sadly for Edwards, he didn’t win the cars but had a chance to redeem himself by kicking another field goal from thirty-five yards to win Miami Dolphins tickets for the contest participants:
After the contest, Edwards stated that he was nervous during the kicks:
“I practiced a little bit yesterday and I kind of wore myself doing it so that was about it,” said Edwards, who won last year’s race in Homestead. “I’m more nervous to kick these two field goals than I am to drive the Homestead-Miami race. I’m definitely not a field goal kicker.”
