Unfortunately, if LeBron James were really serious about playing the NFL, the best time to strike has just passed. With Josh Morgan injuring an ankle against the Buccaneers, the 49ers were really in need of a fourth wide receiver; but they signed someone on Monday. Too bad for San Francisco: the franchise could have really used those seven additional Super Bowl titles LeBron would have brought.
This isn’t going to really happen, but a guy can fantasize, can’t he? Here’s what LeBron tweeted ESPN NFL writer John Clayton earlier today:
@ClaytonESPN When is the deadline for a team to sign a free agent?
Answer: Next Tuesday. LeBron playing wide receiver in the NFL (as he did in high school) is intriguing, in a “what if the Hulk fought Godzilla?” sort of way. And it would be fun, until the first time Brian Urlacher got a clean hit on him.
Clayton answered LeBron thusly:
“LeBron,, don’t look at the Philadelphia Eagles. You’re already on a Dream Team.”
Not sure if that is a dis on the Eagles, the Heat, or both.

Cincinnati Bengals with NFL’s worst avg home attendance 42,252 should sign LeBron James, they’d sell out Paul Brown Stadium
Todd_Jones: Doesn’t LeBron James realize that NFL games also have a fourth quarter?
