A Colombian-born Saudi League soccer player was thrown in the slammer by the Saudi moral police for the most heinous of all crimes: wearing a short-sleeved shirt so that his religious tattoos were visible. Juan Pablo Pino was slapped in cuffs after people in a Riyadh shopping mall expressed outrage over the tattoos on his arm, particularly one of the face of Jesus.

Sharia law in Saudi Arabia prohibits the display of tattoos — religious or otherwise — in public.

Pino, who plays in the Saudi league, has expressed “deep sorrow” for his actions and said he respects the laws of the country. He was released from custody when a team delegate arrived and discussed the matter with the police.

A similar event occurred in Saudi Arabia last year when a Romanian player kissed the tattoo of a cross he had on his arm after scoring a goal, which also caused public outrage.

If we ever go to war with the Saudis, we shouldn’t bother sending troops. Just drop the Nuggets’ Chris Andersen into a major city and the whole country will implode.

And just how do the “morality police” in Saudi Arabia know that tattoo was of the savior in the Christian pantheon? I guess I’m going to have to send them a letter, explaining that the tattoo is actually of “Haysoos”, the guy who does the yardwork at my estate.

The biggest nonsense is that athletes (musicians, artists, tourists, etc.) put up with this crap instead of turning on their heels and leaving this sandpile with beliefs stuck in the middle ages. Saudis are hypocrites who don’t practice what they preach. The drink, buy prostitutes and do not keep the words of the Koran except tp punish and oppress others.
