Charles Barkley: ‘Twitter is for losers’

Of course it should be noted that up until I told him in 2008, Charles Barkley didn’t know what a blog was. So it should be no surprise that, not only is he not on Twitter, but he thinks that all social media is a huge waste of time.

The headline above is paraphrased, by the way. Barkley’s actual quote, taken from his latest Rant and Rave video on his web site, is “Tweet is for losers.” Ha. Tweet. He continues:

“And what I mean by that, if you wake up in the morning and you’re worried about what I’m doing, you a damn idiot. I don’t feel the need to put every thought that comes in my head out into the world. I don’t feel that. And I hope nobody wakes up in the morning and says, let me follow Charles Barkley for the day.”

Interesting sentiment for the man whose web site intro opens with the quote: “For those of you who can’t get enough of me, it’s Charles Barkley, all the time.”

Facebook?

“I’m not trying to keep up with people from my past. I’m running from them,” Barkley said.

Mark Zuckerberg could buy TNT and make you read cricket scores, Charles. But let’s move on.

TiVo?

“That’s what reruns are for.”

Color TV? Cordless phones? The horseless carriage? Barkley didn’t say. It’s clear that Charles wants to be Amish, but doesn’t know how to sign up.

Priceless. And absolutely correct. Point, set and match to Mr. Barkley.

    Twitter is, indeed, ridiculous.

I have 25+ years in the IT field, never understood Twitter. Not a Round Mound fan, but he is on point!
