Pro soccer player on female ref: ‘Women exist to cook and serve men’

VictorUlloa

This happened in Peru, but even there it didn’t go over super well. Víctor “Loco” Ulloa, a goalie for CA Mannucci of the Club Social y Deportivo league, was asked what he thought about female referee Auria Christama, who had just worked Mannucci’s 2-0 loss to Comerciantes Unidos. Keep in mind his middle name is “Loco.”

Ulloa told a TV reporter, on camera, the following:

“The señorita should go cook and not dedicate herself to soccer. Women exist to cook and serve men, not to get involved in soccer.”

Carlitos is outraged!

Video here, in Spanish, obviously.

Here’s the fallout: Peru’s version of the ACLU lodged a complaint with the club, stating that “the declarations made by Victor Ulloa are sexist, denigrating, and intended to provoke violence in a way that perpetuates gender discrimination.”

The club says they have taken “internal disciplinary action” against Ulloa.

Ulloa has offered a public apology to the referee, which can be found on the club’s web site. In fact, this is the lead story on the CA Mannucci site, which includes the headline DISCULPAS PÚBLICAS.

It’s very clear as to what the next stage of Ulloa’s punishment should be. Your move, Peru soccer.

Maybe Loco is secretly part of the Taliban. They treat women as subservient and without rights. Loco will apologize at some point, either soon publicly or many, many times privately. Some men can truly put their soccer cleats in their mouths!
