Man throws golf club, hits friend in head, gets two years in jail

Look, when you fling your club in frustration after another crappy golf shot, be prepared to take your medicine when the club nails your friend in the head. That’s what happened in Australia when Daniel Patrick Betts was jailed for two years for accidentally hitting a member of his foursome in the head with a club.
In a fit of rage over a bad shot, Betts flung his club at a golf cart, but instead hit Dane Parvianen in the head. The wound left the man “unable to work, to play sport or read and write.”
He needed two emergency operations to relieve brain pressure from his fractured skull.
In the District Court at Maroochydore in June , Betts pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Parvianen on December 13, 2009.
Betts appealed his sentence as being manifestly excessive.
In a unanimous judgment the Court of Appeal refused the appeal.
Throwing your clubs: always a bad idea. When angered on the golf course, I prefer the Oliver Hardy method of showing rage. Because your golf partner sneezed during your last shot — which you sliced — you grimace, slowly open a can of soda, and calmly pour it over his head. Then your pick up your golf bag and walk over to the water hazard and gently drop it in. Then nod and wipe your hands together.

I saw* a fellow get so angry that he threw his entire bag into the course lake and then walk away. He then stopped, turned around, went back to the lake and fished his bag out of the water. He then removed his car keys from the bag and threw it back into the lake.
Best golf joke ever.
