Yes, I realize this includes Chief Zee, the Redskins superfan who is somewhat of a Washington icon. But bad casting is bad casting, so there’s still is no excuse for this local D.C. commercial featuring the chief and then-Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell for Eastern Motors. This is so bad that, quite frankly, I’m surprised it stuck to the videotape. TicketNetwork.com ran a post last week about some of the worst local commercials fearing pro athletes, and this was listed last — I’m assuming because they went in descending order.
Campbell’s acting here can’t even be called wooden — that would be an insult to wood. Even movie zombies were yelling “Emote!” Insensitive to Native Americans? Borderline racist? Nonsensical? Nightmare fuel dancing? This one has it all.
Too bad Eastern Motors couldn’t have taken the dignified, straightforward approach shown here by John Starks, who shows us the correct way to do a car commercial.
