Recently, the world of soccer has been plagued with player violence against referees but the below video might be the icing on the cake when it comes to players abusing refs.

It happened during a Uruguayan soccer match between Montevideo and Danubio when Montevideo striker Diogo was issued a red card after he kicked an opposing player. After he was issues the card, Diogo lost his mind and slapped the linesman:

After the game, Diogo told the newspaper El Observador that he tried to get in touch with the linesman to apologize for his actions and that he was truly sorry for what happened:

“I’m very sorry and I was wrong. Even my mother who was in Brazil watched what I did,’ the 22-year-old said.

‘I’ve never experienced anything like this and I was crying on the pitch because I realised that what I had done was bad for my team-mates, my family, fans and everyone who was watching.”
