San Francisco police have released a sketch of the person eyewitnesses have said attacked a fan in a restroom at Candlestick Park this past weekend. The Raiders-49ers exhibition game on Saturday was not exactly a visit to Smurf Village, as two people were shot (they’re both going to recover) and one was violently assaulted inside the park. This has all led the NFL to cancel all future 49ers-Raiders preseason games. San Francisco Chronicle:
The assailant attacked a 26-year-old San Rafael man in a restroom by sections 54-56 in the upper deck at about 7:20 p.m. Police say the attacker grabbed the victim by the neck and slammed him into a wall, then fled.
The victim was hospitalized in fair condition.
The assailant is described as a Pacific Islander in his late 20s, with a goatee and ponytail, who stands more than 6 feet tall and weighs more than 220 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
It’s amazing how every description of a violent attack at a ballpark ends with the words “the assailant then fled.” The police sketch should be of the attacker’s ass … they’d have a thousand tips by now.
