Football coach chokes 12-year-old player, is tased three times by cops

A middle school assistant football coach attempted to a choke a 12-year-old player, then fought with the head coach before being tased three times by cops before being arrested. Found in his car? 9 mm pistol with 79 rounds of ammo.
And that was just the first day of school. This year at Rowan County (N.C.) Middle School is gonna be fun.
Head football coach Douglas Pruitt told deputies that Jared Gallagher was walking with the 12-year-old boy to the locker room after practice and choked him.
Pruitt tried to intervene, but Gallagher tried to fight him, according to the report. A parent then got involved as Puitt called 911 for help.
When deputies arrived they approached Gallagher and asked him to put his hands behind his back.
Gallagher did not comply, according to the report, and was tased by the deputy. Gallagher reportedly pulled the prongs out of his body and was shocked again by another officer behind him, the report stated. Gallagher was shocked for a third time and fell to the ground where he was restrained by officers.
Gallagher is free on $5,000 bond, which seems low for three taserings, child assault and possession of weapons on school grounds. Every time it happens to me, I’m in jail for the long haul.

Why was this man allowed around children? Someone who allowed this man access to such a trusted position with children should explain what information or background check they did for such an unstable man. Children are a treasure and somebody in addition to this violent man should be called upon to answer.

Just because you’re “unstable” doesn’t mean it’s been documented.

Did you really just write “children are a treasure”?
Randy Watson approves.

We have worked with children for many decades, not only our own, but our grandchildren and in the school system, many thousands of other precious children. It is truly disturbing to know that someone hired this man. We hope background checks were done and he had no previous history of similar or concerning behavior, but that is doubtful.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with the sentiment. I have a 2 year old who seems to be the perfect mix of “unbearably cute” and “complete pain in the ass.” But, overly sentimental phrases like “children are a treasure”, while true I guess, do seem a bit cliche.
And they always make me think of this:

What exactly is the relevance of stating a 9mm was found in his car?

If he brought the gun onto a school campus, which apparently he did, he violated the law. No weapons allowed on school grounds in most jurisdictions. Maybe where he was, it was allowed, but not in many.

if ever there was a guy who deserved getting triple tasered, it’s this jackass.
i wish the judge could sentence him to a few more taserings
