Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is master of the Three Stooges eye gouge (video)

AP Moe Howard would be proud. It’s the final moments of the big second-leg SuperCopa match between Real Madrid and Barcelona, moments after Lionel Messi had netted the game-winner for Barcelona. A rather cheap tackle by Madrid’s Marcelo on Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas, and the benches are cleared. Amidst the fracas, Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho (left) casually walks up behind Barcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova and gives him the old eye gouge. Vilanova responds by slapping Mourinho in the head. Unsportsmanlike? Sointenly!
Because European soccer refuses to enter the 21st — or even 20th — Century, both Mourinho and Vilanova are unlikely to be punished for this. That’s because neither the eye poke nor the slap was recorded in the referee’s report, and therefore according to soccer in that part of the world, they never happened. Even though there’s video proof. Moe, Larry, cheese!
