This Alabama sorority recruitment rap video is, um … not good (video)
Aug 17, 2011, 5:10 PM EDT
It’s Rush Week at the University of Alabama, where the Panhellenic Association Board asks the musical question, “What house should you pledge?” And please note that I use the term “musical” in the loosest sense. Complete with tank tops, trucker hats and sunglasses, these girls give it their all, rapping lyrics to Chris Brown and Rebecca Black songs, to varying degrees of fail. The video quickly went viral, and comments were so negative that the group took it down. But now, magically, it’s back up.
What it be?
I was ready to let this slide since this isn’t really about sports, but then toward the end the girls all gather in Bryant-Denny Stadium for a final assault on our senses, thus defiling that noble venue. Can’t let that stand.
CBS42.com reported that the school’s rush week has seen a record number of would-be pledges, with more than 1,700 and counting. Ashley Getwan, president of the Panhellenic Association at the university, said: “We didn’t realize it would get so much publicity… Any publicity is good publicity, we hope.”
YouTube comment: ‘This is f***ing embarrassing. I love this school, but this is why people can’t stand these s***heads.’
