Wakeup Call: Another emotional reunion as army major, disguised as Braves catcher, surprises wife (video)

Aug 12, 2011, 9:00 AM EDT

On Thursday we showed you a pretty awesome reunion at a Spokane Indians game, in which a soldier who had just returned from Afghanistan surprised his two young daughters by showing up on the field. And I liked that story so much I decided to bring you this: Darla Harlow was throwing out the first pitch at a Mississippi Braves game, when she was stunned to see that the catcher was actually her husband, Michael, a major in the army whom she thought was still in Afghanistan. From WAPT:

When she zipped the ball into the catcher’s mitt, she had no idea who the man was behind the mask. But it didn’t take her long to realize it wasn’t an M-Braves player. It was her husband Michael, home from Afghanistan.

“It took a couple of seconds… just shock, just overwhelmed,” said Darla Harlow.

Home plate became an emotional reunion for the happy couple and their children. They’ve been apart for a very long time.

“It’s been nine months since I’ve seen her, wanted to make sure she remembered what I looked like,” said Michael Harlow.

Keep ‘em coming, Minor League Baseball. I could watch one of these every day.
