So how tough is it, really, to be a Major League Baseball broadcaster? It can now be argued that the job is so easy, a grade-schooler can do it. Jacob Resnick, 11, won SNY’s Kidcaster Contest recently, and so got the opportunity to call a half-inning of the Mets-Marlins game on Wednesday. And just his luck, his favorite player, Jose Reyes, hit a home run in the bottom of the third. Here’s Resnick’s call:
I have to say that’s pretty good. The SNY team of Gary Cohen, Ron Darling and Keith Hernandez were impressed, anyway. It’s clear there’s one kid in New York who watches a lot of Mets baseball on TV.
But forget SNY — by my calculations, with intensive training and a note from his school principal, Jacob should be ready to replace Joe Buck by opening day, 2012. Godspeed, lad.
